Regulated Utility Costs Increase: FirstEnergy Riders DCR & NMB

Regulated utility costs continue to increase in 2017. If you are unsure of where to locate the regulated
portion of your utility bill, please refer to the red outlined portion of this sample bill.
FirstEnergy (FE) Ohio operating companies (Ohio Edison, Toledo Edison, and The Illuminating
Company) recently filed with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) for increases to the
Delivery Capital Recovery Rider (DCR) and the Non-Market-Based Services Rider (NMB) that will
become effective March 1, 2017. Both of these demand-based charges are non-bypassable.
Community Energy Advisors (CEA) has modeled these tariffs using an indicative sample of commercial
energy user profiles. Our independent analysis has determined that businesses can expect to see a 6%
annualized increase in their regulated utility spend on average. Below are estimated annual budget
impacts for different types of typical commercial customers who will be experiencing the rate changes
effective March 2017.
